31 Days of Green: Day 6 Green Tea

Todays ‘green’ couldn’t come at a better time. We are in the middle of moving (with a baby for the first time; learning curve!) and oh yeah; it’s record low temperatures. Green tea is such a simple thing to add to your diet with really great health benefits. It has been heavily studied and shown to be highly beneficial to many aspects of cardiovascular health. It is also rich in antioxidants and has been shown to lower cancer risk. You can read more about green teas’ health benefits here. It has some caffeine, but less than coffee and black tea so it is a nice light boost, especially in the afternoon. Drinking three or more cups a day seems to have the most health benefits. I like to take mine in the morning with lemon, honey, and sometimes gelatin. You can find green tea straight up or mixed with other herbs. Mint green tea is definitely one of my favorites, especially chilled. It is great mixed into smoothies or used as a base for soups. Try replacing your morning coffee with a green tea latte and you wont be sorry.

What is your favorite tea?
